Bulb Compatibility

The Universal Chandelier Swan is designed to change both round and candelabra-style light bulbs.

Round bulbs: A19 and G19.

Candelabra bulbs: B10, B11, C11, CA10 and CA11.

Specialty bulb: inserts are available separately for certain CFL, G15, T6 and Edison-style bulbs.

Compatibility depends on the bulb’s shape, dimensions, and available clearance around the fixture.

If you’re unsure whether your bulb is compatible, contact us at info@chandelierswan.com.

Yes. The Chandelier Swan works with compatible LED bulbs, including standard A19 and G19 round bulbs and supported candelabra-style bulbs. Compatibility depends on the bulb’s shape, size, and available clearance around the fixture.

Yes! The Universal Chandelier Swan is designed to change both types. For round bulbs, remove the candelabra insert and install the round-bulb gripping fingers. For candelabra bulbs, use the candelabra insert and the appropriate gripping fingers.

Specialty inserts are available separately for certain CFL, G15, T6, and Edison-style bulbs. Because these bulbs vary in size and shape, please confirm compatibility before purchasing an insert.

The Chandelier Swan is designed primarily for upward-facing bulbs that can be accessed from above. There must be enough clearance around the bulb for the gripping fingers. If your chandelier has a tight glass shade or decorative cage, please send us a photo so we can help evaluate compatibility.

Extension Poles & Reach

No. The extension pole is NOT included with the Chandelier Swan. You can use a compatible standard threaded extension pole, painter’s pole, or push broom handle.

The Chandelier Swan is designed to attach to a standard 3/4-inch ACME-threaded extension pole. Many painter’s poles and push broom handles use this connection. Make sure the pole is securely attached and the thumb screw is tightened before use.

The required pole length depends on the height and location of your chandelier and where you can safely stand. Measure the approximate distance from your working position to the bulb, allowing for the length of the Chandelier Swan. Choose a pole that provides adequate reach without requiring you to lean or overextend.

Yes, provided the bulbs are compatible and can be safely accessed from above. The Chandelier Swan is particularly useful when you can reach the chandelier from a second-floor landing or stairwell. It is not intended to be operated directly underneath the chandelier.

Yes. A compatible telescoping pole can provide additional reach. Before use, make sure every telescoping section is fully locked and the Chandelier Swan thumb screw is securely tightened. If the pole rotates without turning the tool, check these connections.

Safety & Care

Yes. Always turn OFF power to the light fixture before changing bulbs. Allow the bulbs to cool completely before beginning. Do not use the tool on an energized or damaged fixture.

No. The Chandelier Swan is intended for use where you can access upward-facing bulbs from above, such as from an appropriate second-floor landing or stairwell. Do not attempt to use it directly underneath the chandelier

No. Never lean over a railing or overextend yourself while using the Chandelier Swan. Maintain stable footing and use a working position that allows you to operate the tool safely.

No. Always allow the bulb to cool completely before using the Chandelier Swan. Hot bulbs can damage or melt the plastic gripping fingers and create a burn hazard.

Getting Started & How it works

The Chandelier Swan uses flexible gripping fingers to securely engage a compatible light bulb. Once attached to a standard threaded extension pole, you can rotate the pole to remove or install the bulb from an appropriate position. For step-by-step instructions and a demonstration video, visit our How It Works page.

Yes. The Chandelier Swan is designed to remove burned-out bulbs and install replacement bulbs. Always make sure the replacement bulb is properly seated, and never overtighten it.

For round bulbs, remove the candelabra insert sleeve from the main body and install the round-bulb fingers. For candelabra bulbs, install the candelabra insert sleeve and the candelabra fingers. Grip each finger near its base during installation to avoid bending or breaking it.

Attach the Chandelier Swan to a compatible standard 3/4-inch ACME-threaded extension pole, painter’s pole, or push broom handle. Make sure the connection is secure and tighten the thumb screw before use.

Visit the How It Works page at chandelierswan.com for step-by-step instructions, a demonstration video, and downloadable instructions. Review the instructions before using your Chandelier Swan for the first time.

Troubleshooting

Make sure you’re using the correct insert and gripping fingers for your bulb. Check that the bulb is fully seated inside the tool and that the small foot on each white gripping tab is positioned inward. Dust on the bulb or rubber gripping nodes can reduce traction, so clean them as needed. Do not force the tool onto an incompatible bulb.

Check that the telescoping pole sections are locked and that the Chandelier Swan thumb screw is securely tightened. A loose connection can prevent the tool from rotating with the pole.

Some chandeliers may move or swing when torque is applied. Stop if the fixture becomes unstable. Where appropriate, a second pole with a suitable stabilizing hook may help control movement. Never lean over a railing or use the tool from an unstable position.

The Chandelier Swan requires enough clearance to fit around the bulb. Some fixtures have shades or cages that prevent the standard tool from reaching the bulb. An XL configuration with a longer drop may be appropriate for certain fixtures. Contact us with a photo and measurements before purchasing.

Stop using the damaged finger. Excessive pressure during installation or use can bend or break the plastic gripping fingers. Grip each finger near its base when inserting it into the tool. Contact us if you need assistance identifying a suitable replacement.

Do not apply excessive force. A bulb may be seized in its socket, damaged, or incompatible with the tool. Stop if the bulb or fixture does not move normally. A qualified electrician may be needed to remove a stuck or damaged bulb safely.

A chandelier light bulb changer makes it easier to replace your chandelier bulbs safely.
